Michael Yamashita. In the footsteps of Marco Polo

Soon : 20/11/2026 – 28/02/2027

Michael Yamashita, a Japanese-American photographer and one of the most influential of his generation, creates a fascinating visual journey that retraces the legendary route traveled by Marco Polo in the 13th century, transforming it into a contemporary adventure. The exhibition In the footsteps of Marco Polo, curated by Fort Bard and Orion57, celebrates the extraordinary legacy of the great Venetian merchant, creating an ideal bridge between past and present. The exhibition route starts in Italy and winds through the myth-shrouded territories of Central Asia.

It features a total of 88 photographs accompanied by textual content and in-depth analysis. Also on display is a collection of historical and scientific objects curated by architect Michelangelo Lupo, including the first Italian vernacular edition of Il Milione (The Travels of Marco Polo) from the Queriniana Library in Brescia and a portrait of Marco Polo painted in August 1849 by Annibale Strata, on loan from the Provincial Museums of Gorizia.
