Fort Bard open from Tuesday to Sunday

Art Déco in Italy, the elegance of modernity

Art deco in Italy, the elegance of modernity is the title of the original new exhibition that Forte di Bard is hosting from 2 December, 2022, to 10 April, 2023, in collaboration with Silvana Editoriale. A major exhibition project, curated by Francesco Parisi, that presents 230 works including paintings, sculptures, wall decorations, applied arts, posters, and illustrations that reveal the evolution of art deco. Nine sections are set up in the halls of the Cannoniere and the Cantine in the fortress.

The term Art Deco comes from the abbreviation referring to the Exposition International des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes, held in Paris in 1925, which gave rise to a phenomenon that revolutionised style and taste in the decorative arts, visual arts, architecture, and fashion. In addition to reconstructing the Italian section from that era-defining event, the exhibition aims to present a sort of snapshot of what was being produced in those years, not only in the decorative arts but also in painting, sculpture, and graphics.
