Trek’eau, from the Mont Avic Natural Park to the Bard Fort

Trek’eau is an initiative aimed at promoting trekking and sustainable tourism in the Mont Avic Park, Champorcher Valley, and Bard Fort. The name Trek’eau is a play on the words “trekking” and “water” (eau in French), because this area is rich in waterways: dozens of lakes to admire and two streams, the Chalamy and the Ayasse, which have created landscapes of extraordinary beauty. The initiative was funded by Fosmit from the Aosta Valley Region and the municipalities of Champdepraz, Champorcher, Pontboset, Hône, and Bard. The Bard Fort and the Mont Avic Natural Park are also collaborating on the project.

The main itinerary can be completed in seven days. The walking time for each stage varies from 3 to 5 hours per day; highly trained hikers can reduce the total number of days by combining the stages. Along the way, you’ll have the opportunity to admire not only a fascinating landscape, but also characteristic old villages, bridges, mule tracks, ovens, and many other vestiges of the past.

In addition to the main route, there are alternatives that allow you to shorten the more challenging stages. The start and finish points are easily accessible by public transport.

To make your journey easier, you can request luggage transportation from one stage to the next (excluding the Barbustel Refuge), making the walk more enjoyable.

The route can be organized independently or you can rely on a trekking organization service.

At the end of this adventure, a surprise awaits you upon arrival at the Bard Fort.
