Along the Via Francigena

Fort Bard is located along the ancient Via Francigena, which in the Middle Ages connected Canterbury to Rome. The route crosses the entire Aosta Valley, starting from the Great St. Bernard Pass to the town of Pont-Saint-Martin, and then continuing through the Canavese region towards Ivrea (Turin).
