Ebike, the sustainable tourism cycle in the Alps

Visiting the Bard Fort has been enhanced with new spaces: the La Corniche Promenade and the e-bike path, created as part of the Italian-Swiss Alps cycle route project, are now accessible to the public. The work has led to the creation of a new visitor route to the fortress, with significant geo-environmental and historical value. The route is located close to the Fort’s walls on the southwest side, in a panoramic position overlooking the Dora Baltea valley. The La Corniche Promenade, connected to the e-bike route from the village, winds between the ramparts and slabs of bare rock that surround the Fort, as well as some pre-existing stonework structures, evidence of old military outposts once used to defend the site.
The e-bike tourist route instead runs along the two uphill roads that lead from the village of Bard to the fortress. Two e-bike charging stations have been installed, complete with bike racks and a repair shop. The first charging station, easily accessible from the parking lot and State Road 26, is located at the foot of the fortress near the departure point of the first panoramic elevator. The second is located near the Corniche on the southwest side of the Opera Carlo Alberto.
The charging service is free.
