If you are coming from the direction of Turin you will find the Fortress of Bard positioned on a high rocky spur at the entrance into the Valle d'Aosta (78km from Turin and 45km from the City of Aosta's halfway between Milano and Geneva). The Fortress of Bard is accessible by car taking the Valle d'Aosta's state road (SS.26), or by motorway (A5) with exit points at Pont-Saint-Martin to the south and Verrès to the north (5km and 9km respectively from Bard).

Carparks

There is a multistorey carpark at the foot of the fortress (3,00 euro), the Lieron Carpark and the San Giovanni Carpark( free of charge) along the SS.26 approximately 200m from the fortress, and the Viadotto Carpark (free of charge) approximately 600m from the fortress with a free shuttle bus service to and from the fortress on Sundays and public holidays. The nearest train stations (along the Turin-Aosta route) are Pont-Saint-Martin and Verres. From there take a bus along the state road (SS.26) towards the Commune of Bard and get off at the bus stop at the foot of the fortress. If you are travelling by a local train get off at Hone-Bard Station, 500m from the fortress.
