The Mortai Opera

The students are prepared for the visit to the Museum of the Alps with a specific preliminary activity that takes place in their own schools.

Once at the fortress the students are taken on a tour around the museum by specialized staff. Employing their already existing knowledge combined with their curiosity, the students are provided with learning tools that allow them to discover new information from several sources and to process, evaluate and reproduce this information using various forms of communication including images, sounds, words and mathematical logic.
The activities can be done individually or in groups.

The workshop activities take place after the guided visit of the museum.

Various materials are used in the learning process including observation charts, anthropological research tools (interviews, questionaires, photographic and video archives), verbal and written reports, and detailed pictorial-graphic works. Through the use of these materials the students are able to: learn and understand new concepts, strengthen their capacity to formulate and verify hypotheses, enrich their vocabulary, examine and evaluate information obtained from a variety of textual sources, explore new ideas concerning the world that surrounds them, develop their interest and awareness of the mountain and the natural environment, enhance their knowledge of the traditions and the modern life of the alpine world.
